STEM Career Pathways in Strategic Leadership & Management

Continuing our 16-21 STEM careers presentations, this Wednesday we hosted Mr. Darren McNulty, an energy-efficiency engineer with Enzen.  Darren explained to students the importance of attitude in sustaining a career, just as attractive to an employer as academic excellence.  Showing yourself to be a committed learner throughout a career was explained too, Darren’s professional qualifications include chartered engineer and chartered engineering manager status.

Darren was an RAF apprentice airframe engineer working on Tornado jets before studying mechanical engineering at university.  In a previous role he won the Financial Times Green Small Company of Year Award and has subsequently continued to develop innovative energy efficient solutions to increasingly complex organisations across the world.  Whilst his current work focus is outside of the public domain, which in itself was quite intriguing to his audience of Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 students, he inspired his audience with his enthusiasm and quiet ambition.
