6th formers learn about Christus Vivit

POST-SYNODAL APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION

CHRISTUS VIVIT

OF THE HOLY FATHER
FRANCIS

TO YOUNG PEOPLE AND TO THE ENTIRE PEOPLE OF GOD

In Year 12 we were invited to discuss what young people think of the Catholic Church and what we want from the church.  As a result of the findings, the Pope responded to the young people and we were invited again to discuss the findings, led by the Birmingham Catholic Youth Service and Jimmy Mitchell, a Catholic evangelist from the US.

The Pope has written a document ‘Christus Vivit’ and in it he says: ‘Young people, you are the future and I believe in you… I beg you believe that you are loved, priceless and saved.’  He encouraged that technology is used in a positive way and is a good gift if used well.

Jimmy inspired me by saying how he is inspired by the lives of saints and challenged us saying ‘Do you want Christ to become alive in you?’

It was an eye-opening afternoon and we were touched by the young people from the Youth Service and their testimonies on what led them to believe in God and to deepen their faith.
