UCAS Exhibition 2017

On Tuesday, Year 12 students visited the UCAS Higher Education exhibition at the NEC. There were a number of universities and apprenticeship providers present who provided lots of information, advice and guidance about Post 18 pathways.

There are two key messages which students will hopefully take away from the event. Firstly, that there are a number of opportunities available to students with hundreds of universities offering lots of different courses. It is important that students are thorough in their research and take considerable time in considering their choices. Students are advised to attend open days to help them with this process. Secondly, higher education courses and apprenticeships are very competitive, and students are encouraged to seek work experience and other extra-curricular activities to enhance their personal statements. The final week of the summer term is dedicated to work experience placements but students may also wish to consider applying for additional voluntary positions during the summer.

During the penultimate week of the summer term, students will be exploring their Post 18 destinations further during enrichment week and will be involved in a number of workshops to help them through the UCAS process and writing effective personal statements.

Many thanks must go to Miss Clarke, Mrs Davies, Mr Flood, Mrs Johnson and Mr Stacey for accompanying the students to the NEC and supporting the visit. Without their support the day could not have gone ahead. Thank you.
